Summary

Gerald the giraffe longs to dance, but his legs are too skinny and his neck is too long。 At the Jungle Dance, the warthogs waltz, the chimps cha-cha, and the lions tango。 "Giraffes can't dance," they all jeer when it's Gerald's turn to prance。 But with some sound advice from a wise cricket, Gerald starts swaying to his own sweet tune。

Super cute story and illustrations

It was funny and likable at the same time as it was wonderful to see and read about different animals and see the giraffe dancing so wonderfully。

Break your silo, break the stereotype and be free - whether you are young or an adult, you will love reading this。 I read it to my 3。5 year daughter and she absolutely loves it

Asheera Ismail

A powerful story about believing in yourself。 We used it for our end of year production and had the students act out the story。 Definitely one my favourites!

Dance how you feel it, don’t mind others watching。 Easier said than done。 But if you’re mindful you will notice the feeling inside you that makes your body move and your mind happy。 A great book for children。

Abelle

A book about finding your own rhythm in life, literally and figuratively, even if others dont believe in you。

Call me overly sensitive, but I don't love his negative self talk or the fact that his friends call him weird。 I know it's super mild, but it's a board book, so it's meant for the littlest of kids, and I don't like introducing all of that to my two- and three-year-olds。 Call me overly sensitive, but I don't love his negative self talk or the fact that his friends call him weird。 I know it's super mild, but it's a board book, so it's meant for the littlest of kids, and I don't like introducing all of that to my two- and three-year-olds。 。。。more

Practice makes perfect。 Or if you can't be excellent at something on your first try, don't do it all ever。 It's not that the art is bad, I kind of like the art。 And the writing isn't bad。 But it's the concept I disagree with。 Find something you like, and then become good at it。 This book would seem to say the opposite and it annoyed me。 Practice makes perfect。 Or if you can't be excellent at something on your first try, don't do it all ever。 It's not that the art is bad, I kind of like the art。 And the writing isn't bad。 But it's the concept I disagree with。 Find something you like, and then become good at it。 This book would seem to say the opposite and it annoyed me。 。。。more

This book is one of my favourites! I love the exciting narrative, and how, as the story progresses, Gerald starts to believe in himself。 This is an excellent chance for children to think about the qualities they have and will encourages them to try something new。 The children often laughed when Gerald was trying his moves out! The illustrations are vibrant and are a wonderful attribute to this book。

I liked the illustration and the story of this book。 Children can learn rhyme from the text and practice it to develop their literature skills。 It also had a good message of how everyone is unique and should not be bullied。

Illustration is silly and fun and that's one of the reasons i like this story。 The storyline is another way of learning not to judge and understand everyone is different and shares a different style of things。 Illustration is silly and fun and that's one of the reasons i like this story。 The storyline is another way of learning not to judge and understand everyone is different and shares a different style of things。 。。。more

I was bothered by the logical fallacy, where with the species that can dance, there is no reason why giraffes couldn't; they could have gone with Gerald himself not being able to dance, and that would have been fine。 However, I really like the concluding line: "We all can dance," he said,"when we find music that we love。"And realistically, children will probably not mind the logical fallacy part。 I was bothered by the logical fallacy, where with the species that can dance, there is no reason why giraffes couldn't; they could have gone with Gerald himself not being able to dance, and that would have been fine。 However, I really like the concluding line: "We all can dance," he said,"when we find music that we love。"And realistically, children will probably not mind the logical fallacy part。 。。。more

so awful! a story about how the animals mock the giraffe for dancing his own way, calling him stupid and weird?!?! and then cut him out of the party and in the end he's changed his dance to fit what the group wants? NO! This is likely supposed to be a "march to the beat of your own drum" kind of story but it comes off more like "don't be yourself, do what everyone else wants you to do"。 so awful! a story about how the animals mock the giraffe for dancing his own way, calling him stupid and weird?!?! and then cut him out of the party and in the end he's changed his dance to fit what the group wants? Gifafess can't dance is about a giraffe name gerald who did not know how dance。 The book is a cute story that has great illustrations that will keep the children engaged in the book。 This book also touches on social-emotional topic because it describes how the giraffe felt when they couldn't dance。 I love how the book offers many rhyming words throughout the story。 I would recommend this book to teachers and parents who would like to teach rhyming words with a fun story。 Gifafess can't dance is about a giraffe name gerald who did not know how dance。 The book is a cute story that has great illustrations that will keep the children engaged in the book。 This book also touches on social-emotional topic because it describes how the giraffe felt when they couldn't dance。 I love how the book offers many rhyming words throughout the story。 I would recommend this book to teachers and parents who would like to teach rhyming words with a fun story。 。。。more

My two favorite quotes of this great book:“So imagine that the lovely moon is playing just for you- everything makes music if you really want it to。”“We can all dance, when we find music that we love。”Everyone is unique and we can use our uniqueness to create music and love no matter what is going on in our life。

"Giraffes Can't Dance" is a social emotional book about a giraffe who is a little different from all of the other animals around, he doesn't have the best balance or dance moves like everyone else does。 when it came down to the night of the dance party between all of the animals, Gerald felt very out of place and down on himself。 A cricket told him he just needed a different song, and sure enough Gerald could dance once he heard a different song。 I gave this book a 5 star rating because it teach "Giraffes Can't Dance" is a social emotional book about a giraffe who is a little different from all of the other animals around, he doesn't have the best balance or dance moves like everyone else does。 when it came down to the night of the dance party between all of the animals, Gerald felt very out of place and down on himself。 A cricket told him he just needed a different song, and sure enough Gerald could dance once he heard a different song。 I gave this book a 5 star rating because it teaches that just to succeed you don't need to take the same path as everyone else。 I think this is a valuable lesson for many kids to learn at an early age。 。。。more
